What we did

This was one of the biggest distribution projects A Unit has undertaken to date, with 5x 5KVA synchronised generators sending 3-phase power to 400 endpoints, spread across 3 arenas and 5 hectares of land.

We installed kilometres of cabling and piping, designed custom dust-proof and air-conditioned housings, and maintained 100% reliability to facilitate live downloads. We had onsite technicians to balance the loads and proactively prevent failures, and we burned through around 1400l of diesel per day.

We built a tented camp to accommodate a maximum of 44o people at a time. In total we had 16,000 bednights.

With sky high temperatures, water was essential to keep the crew functioning. A Unit had to pull out all the stops to secure 1000l per day of bottled water from Cape Town in the midst of the area’s worst drought in living memory.

Waste Removal & Sanitation

Every three days, A Unit sorted, transported and recycled 2 tonnes of waste from the location. We also installed and maintained French drains with custom overflow systems for sewerage and sanitation in line with National Park restrictions.
